You can test your skill on brookies, the only trout native to the Southern Appalachians, in Pathertown Valley. The federally protected wilderness area is just over the ridgeline and 15 minutes from the Club. Two other notable waterways lie within 15 minutes of the Club, the Whitewater and Chattooga rivers. Both received acclaim in a recent article of American Angler entitled “Amazing Fly Fishing Destinations: The Top 100 from Arkansas to Zambia.” Boasting fast currents, big boulders, and deep pools, the Whitewater is ideal for experienced fly fishermen, as well as beginners unafraid of wading challenges.
